It is likely that the Blue Picardy Spaniel is based spaniels with the black and gray one met in Picardy, in the valleys of the Somme, and Authie Canche the nineteenth century. Dogs left by their English teachers in Picardy farms to avoid quarantine, brought a blood supply that reduces the model and finally settled its characteristic color. It was not until 1938 that the "blue" will be recognized as a distinct race and ranked among the spaniels of France.
